Hey guys,
I am Basia. I spend two years in Berlin, working as a physiotherapist and dancing as much as possible. This is how I found the best contemporary dance schools in Berlin. There were three factors, which I took into account while searching for the dance school in Berlin.
DANCE STYLE
My main focus was contemporary dance
THE LEVEL OF THE CLASSES
I was never a professional dancer. However, dance was always part of my life. There are many schools, which are recreational, meaning that the teacher level is not that good or even if it’s quite okay, the way they lead the classes make me wanna go out in the middle of the lesson as I don’t feel it brings anything to me. Accordingly, I was looking for advanced classes, with passionate, skillful teachers, where I can learn, have fun and improve.
WHERE IS THE SCHOOL?
Is it far away from my home or work? (this factor was less important).

Information that you gonna find
- Name of the contemporary dance school
- Address – click on it, and you will be directed to the mentioned address in google maps
- Nearby UBahn or SBahn
- Price of a trial class – each school has different offers. You can buy a monthly ticket o,r 10 classes ticket or other kinds of tickets. If you click on the price, it will direct you to the Site of the Prices of the particular school

- Additional long-term dance programs offered by the school – click on it, and you will be directed to their website or to my article about it

Hi
I am Arman from Iran . I am currently living in Istanbul . I have been selected for three years dance program in Contemporary dance school Hamburg for August 2021 but I have no idea about what is really going on there and other dance schools in Germany .
I graduated in BA acting and I am going to continue my educational way in contemporary dance in Germany . I had no ballet instruction as an actor in the past . I would like to participate in auditions which do not require any ballet techniques .
would you please guide me where could be the best choice for me ? Whats your opinion about CDSH dance school ? is there any dance program without ballet instruction in German contemporary dance schools ?
Hey Arman, thank you for your comment. Germany is great for contemporary dancers. However, I don’t know much about dance schools in Hamburg. Maybe other readers will answer your questions.
Hi Basia! I’d like to attend an Education programme in Germany or in France, do you have any suggestion for me?
What kind of Education Program do you mean?
hi.
I am moving to Berlin in a couple of months and I just want to dance for fun and well fitness.
which dance studio do you recommend?
All these studios are great. I recommend all of them. Now, I probably would choose the one you live closer to.
Hi Basia,
Thank you for this video and article, I found it very helpful! I was wondering if you could tell me how you first discovered these studios. Was it mostly through word of mouth? I am from Australia and hoping to come over to Europe to dance soon, but am unsure of the best way to discover places to dance.
Thanks very much!
Hannah
Hey Hannah,
Happy I could help 🙂 I discovered the studios through internet at the beginning. I went to many many studios till I found my favorites. Also, in every studio, they usually have flyers promoting upcoming workshops or dance events, so I was checking that as well. Check the schools I and other dancers from the video recommend (mentioned in the post). Later you can explore more! Through word of mouth I didn’t discover many schools, but I learned a lot about classes worth to attend or dance events. GOOD LUCK!!!
Hi Basia, while searching for contemporary dance school in Germany I came accross your page and would like to ask you, why didn t you write about the Berlin dance Institute? Do you have any information about it? Is it a good school in case you tried it or hear about it? Thanks a lot.
Hi Maria, actually I have never been to Berlin Dance Institute and I didn’t hear about it much. Thank you for this comment. When I go to Berlin I will definitely check it out and maybe make some new article about it. If you will know anything more about this school, please share it here 🙂
