These are 6 contemporary dance studios in Berlin and my experience dancing there:

Workshops:

Different dance and movement techniques.

MY EXPERIENCE

This studio is in the backyard. So just enter the gate and keep going till you see on the right side a small billboard Dock 11. I don’t know this dance school very well. I only participated there in ballet classes for the beginners on Wednesday with Saskia Klepsch. She is a very good teacher. I definitely recommend this class. It was a morning class during the weekdays. That was perfect because it is very difficult to find ballet classes for adults for beginners in the mornings. Most of the morning classes are for children or for professionals.

ProStage

Contemporary Dance Studios In Berlin

INFO

Regular classes:

Ballet, Jazz Dance, Street Dance/Hip Hop, Yoga, Burlesque, Shauspiel,

MY EXPERIENCE

I participated in their contemporary evening classes a few times. I enjoyed it. The teacher was a young lady who was doing a study program that ProStage offers. It wasn’t a very professional class, but it was interesting and with good content. Unfortunately, I don’t remember her name, so I cannot bring it here. I liked this school and its atmosphere. MY EXPERIENCE: Unfortunately, I have never been to this Dance Studio. But other dancers from Berlin have recommended it. This is why I included this school in the article. If you know Motion*s Tanzschule, share your opinion in the comments below.

Papillon Tanz Studios

Contemporary Dance Studios In Berlin

INFO

Regular classes:

Ballet, Floorbarre, Contemporary, Pilates Barre.

MY EXPERIENCE

I went there on Tuesday to try a ballet class from 10:00-11:30 and afterward contemporary dance from 11:30-13:00. I really liked the ballet class. I should though mention that I don’t have any big expectations towards ballet classes. I am a beginner in ballet and most of the classes suit me. Contemporary dance was led by a young girl. You could feel that she is still learning to find her own way of expression. I enjoyed the class. But, in the long term, I prefer to go to Tanzfabrik or Marameo. If you know more about this place, please write your opinion in the comments below.

MY EXPERIENCE: This is one of the first schools, which I found on internet before moving to Berlin. It took my attention, because they offer 5 months DANCE INTENSIVE PROGRAM, which prepares for their DANCE study program (Ausbildung). However, I have never decided to participate in it. If you know this school please write your opinion in the comments below.

MY EXPERIENCE

This studio is located far away from the center of Berlin. Going there is not really convenient. Takes a lot of time. Why then am I mentioning this school here? I think it is a very good place not for regular classes but for dance workshops. I was there once. They were offering a Partnering Workshop for free. It was one of the best workshops I have been to so far in Berlin. You won’t hear about Lake Studio as often as about Marameo. But, it is worth being aware that this place exists. If you know more about Lake Studio Berlin, write your comment below.

Apart from the mentioned above 6 contemporary dance studios in Berlin, my actual favorites are Tanzfabrik and Marameo. I didn’t include them here, simply because I created separate articles about them.
